GARRY McDONALD — Kelvin Chevalier

Garry McDonald’s character, Kelvin Chevalier, is the heart behind Mr ACCIDENT’S Big Egg Factory. Says Yahoo: "To my way of thinking, the eighth edible wonder of the world could only be credible if presided over by comedy legend Garry McDonald. He is the Australian actor who is the instant embodiment of parody and pathos and therefore for me is the only bloke who could be the statesman-like builder of the world famous Sydney Egg House. A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Garry McDonald is one of Australia’s most talented performers. In 1988 McDonald was honoured as a National Treasure. In 1997 he was inducted into the TV Week Hall of Fame, having previously won a Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Actor on Australian Television in 1994, the George Wallace Memorial Logie for Best New Talent in 1976 as well as the Gold Logie for Most Popular Male Personality of that same year. McDonald also received a People’s Choice Award for Best Comic Actor in 1994 and a People’s Choice Award for Most Popular Male Personality in 1993.

McDonald’s feature film credits include "Moulin Rouge", directed by Baz Luhrmann, "Struck By Lightening" for which he received a Sydney Film Critics Award for Best Actor in 1991; "Those Dear Departed" directed by Ted Robinson; "The Bee-Eater" for director George Ogilvie; "Wills And Burke — The Untold Story" for director Bob Weiss; "Molly" directed by Ned Lander; "Ginger Meggs"; "The Pirate Movie"; "Picture Show Man" directed by John Power; "Picnic At Hanging Rock" for director Peter Weir; "Stone" and "Avengers On The Reef".

McDonald is best-known to television audiences for his ongoing performance of his alter ego ‘Norman Gunston’ on programs such as "The Norman Gunston Show" and "Midday Show", and more recently as Arthur Beare in the popular comedy series "Mother And Son" co-starring Ruth Cracknell, for ABC TV. Other television credits include the series "Medivac"; the game show "Rip Snorter"; ABC TV’s "Fallen Angels"; "Fire II"; "G.P."; "Eggshells" series I and II; the telemovie "The Other Side Of Paradise"; "Five Mile Creek" and "The Garry McDonald Show".

McDonald most recently appeared in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of "After The Ball" as well as "Laughter On The 23^rd Floor" for the Ensemble Theatre.
